HK416 Assault Rifle

The HK416 is an assault rifle developed by the German company Heckler & Koch. Its development started in the 1990s to create a rifle with greater reliability and accuracy than the M4 used at the time. The result was the HK416, which introduced several key innovations. In 2004, the HK416 was publicly unveiled and quickly gained popularity due to its gas system derived from the HK G36, offering improved reliability.
In 2006, the first version of the HK416 entered service, undergoing testing and use by special forces worldwide. In 2007, U.S. special forces SEAL units adopted the HK416, further solidifying its reputation. By 2008, the HK416 became the primary rifle of the French RAID unit and other special forces. Between 2010 and 2020, various military and police units worldwide adopted the HK416.
The standard HK416 model features a robust and reliable construction with interchangeable barrel lengths (10.4", 14.5", 16.5", 20"). This model retains the standard Heckler & Koch gas system.
The HK416C is a compact version with a shorter barrel and telescopic stock, making it ideal for confined environments such as vehicles or urban settings.
The HK416A5 is a modernized version of the original HK416, introduced in 2012. Improvements include an updated gas system, better ergonomics, and enhanced modularity.

Internal Components

In short, Specna decided to take the perfectly fitted body from the Edge/Edge 2.0 series with a Nano Coating finish, which boasts increased resistance to scratches and damage, and fill it with top-tier upgrade components. They started with the motor upgrade—right away, they installed a brushless Dark Matter motor with a rotation speed of 27,000 RPM. This motor provides higher efficiency, better performance, and further enhances the rate of fire as well as trigger response. It offers up to 5x more shots per battery charge compared to standard motors (5000+ shots on an 11.1V 1000mAh battery). Additionally, it is housed in a durable aluminum casing, capable of handling springs up to M190!
The replica is also equipped with a completely redesigned reinforced AETHER™ gearbox, which can handle AEG springs up to M140. Inside, you will find CNC steel gears with a 16:1 ratio, offering an ideal balance between rate of fire and durability, even when using a strong Specna Arms M135 spring. 8mm J-Cage bearings are used—ball bearings on the motor and piston gears, while the center gear features a slide bearing for added durability. This setup was chosen based on extensive testing of various bearing configurations to achieve the optimal balance between durability and rotational speed.
Reinforced polycarbonate piston with 14 steel teeth ensures optimal gear engagement (AoE) and prevents gearbox lock-up. It is robust enough while not slowing down the firing cycle unnecessarily. The piston features a CNC piston head with enlarged ports to direct airflow efficiently into the CNC cylinder head with dual sealing, housed in a stainless steel cylinder with ribbing for cooling during automatic fire. Air is fed into the hop-up chamber via a CNC nozzle mounted on a reinforced tappet plate. Reliable feeding is ensured by a strong tappet plate spring and a delay cam on the sector gear.
The 416 rifle is equipped with an electronic processor unit Gate ASTER II Bluetooth®, which ensures safe operation, protects internal components, improves trigger response, extends battery life, increases the rate of fire, and allows for the safe use of Li-Pol batteries 7.4V and 11.1V. The battery connector is T-Dean with routing into the buffer tube. Using the CGS app for Android, iOS, or Windows/Mac computers, you can easily configure the processor unit. All settings are clearly displayed on your phone without the need for a programming card or button presses. The app also allows you to download the latest firmware updates, ensuring your unit always operates at peak performance.
The Aster II unit includes features such as active braking, binary trigger, adjustable trigger sensitivity, precocking, programmable fire modes including DMR mode, and a smart trigger. Speaking of the trigger, the rifle comes with a CNC Gate Quantum Trigger 2, which allows for sensitivity adjustment from an ultra-light touch to full movement.
The rifle is also equipped with a 6.02mm precision barrel fitted with a Helium Flat-Hop bucking in the redesigned MAGNUS™ hop-up chamber with a TDC pressure system. In the package, you will find three different AEG springs, allowing you to equip the rifle for CQB games with an M90 spring. Within a minute, thanks to the ESA2 quick spring change system, you can install an M115 spring for standard field games, or go all-in with the strongest included M135 spring to transform your rifle into a DMR with outstanding range.

Warnings

• Springs from some manufacturers are significantly oversized (e.g., an M130 spring can correspond to an M140-150), and their strength may exceed the declared durability of the gearbox. It is recommended to use only the included Specna Arms springs. When using third-party springs, M120 springs are advised to prevent potential damage caused by mislabeled spring strength.
• When replacing a spring with progressive (irregular) winding, ensure that the end with denser coils is positioned on the spring guide facing outwards from the gearbox.
• Never store the gun with the battery connected.
• Never store the gun with the pre-cocking mode engaged. Always release the piston forward before storing to prevent spring damage.

Pairing the App

To pair the GCS app with the ASTER II unit, you must enter its code, which is located on the label on the wiring. Ideally, leave this label on the gun or at least keep it. Without the code, the unit cannot be paired with the app.
